About Gilbert AZ...
Known as the former "Hay Capital of the World," Gilbert, Arizona, is now recognized as a popular urban center and suburb of the Phoenix metropolitan area, offering many things to do and see. Doubling its population every five years for the past 20 years, it is now home to approximately 230,000 residents. Located 20 miles southeast of Phoenix in the "Valley of the Sun," Gilbert prides itself on offering residents safe neighborhoods in planned communities, quality education, a host of leisure activities and a booming business community.
The Heritage District—the community's original town core—features a mix of retail, office and commercial business and restored historic buildings and residences. A large section of the city's trail system is being incorporated into the redevelopment plan. The city's trail system includes trails on the Western Canal and the Union Pacific Railroad alignments. The Heritage Walk utilizes the Western Trail and features key sites in the district such as the Historical Museum.
Students in grades K-12 attend excellent schools in the Gilbert Unified School District. Several colleges and universities are in proximity, including Arizona State University, which is less than a 20-minute drive away. Real estate options consist of single-family detached homes, gated communities, estate properties, condominiums, townhouses and land lots for custom building. Despite its prestigious title as one of the "Top 100 Places to Live" as dubbed by Money Magazine, Gilbert remains as humble as its beginnings.
